Chippewa Falls are a Newcastle based three-piece formed from members of Meandthetwins minus Paul Smith latterly of Maxïmo Park. They are a minimal set up of two guitars played by twin sisters Rachel and Laura Lancaster and a drum kit hit by Narbi.
A mutual love of music that strives for originality (such as My Bloody Valentine, Cat Power, and Low) provides the impetus for the band. They play stripped down, understated instrumental music that can be at once delicate and fierce, blunt and subtle. Intricate guitar lines weave in and out of one another as percussion accents rhythm.
Their songs - already receiving props from David Pajo from Slint and Devendra Banhardt - are a result of an intuitive approach to music writing, always aiming to keep the scope for development and improvisation, avoiding ever becoming static definitive documents.
